Make some noise...

The other day I stumbled across a poem I'd written a few years back and I actually stopped to read it. As I was doing this, my youngest son was napping and my oldest daughter burst through the door singing, loudly. I jumped up to hush her and reminded her it was nap time. She obliged and simply asked, "Mom, when can we just make some noise?" I replied, "Later or else you could go back outside."

She chose the latter and I continued with the poem, the one I'd titled, "How Can We Be Silent?" Take a minute and read it for yourself -

“How Can We Be Silent?”
The world is hurting and
He can heal the pain.
The problems are endless and
He is the answer.
Relationships are broken and
He can make them better.
People are suffering and
He provides comfort.
Countries are at war and
He offers peace.
Everyone makes mistakes and
He grants forgiveness.
Our lives are a mess and
He can wash them clean.
The world has a need and
only Jesus can fill it.
How can we be silent,
when He can do so much?

I came to the end of my words and felt God rephrase Joy's as He whispered to my heart, "Jill, when are you going to make some noise?" It's not that He wanted me to sing like my daughter (Thank you LORD!!), but friend He wants me (and you) to speak up for Him. And you know as well as I do, our families, friends, neighbors and the strangers we meet need us to be a voice for Him.

Not even three weeks ago I attended a conference called She Speaks, but I've been reminded those two words don't just describe an event I was blessed to attend, but it's something I need to do. Friend would you like to join me? Let's commit to making some noise for Jesus!!

"She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue."

Proverbs 31:26

I love, love, love this! :) What a great poem and what a powerful question from the Lord. Thankful for the equipping we got at She Speaks to be powerful, effective, and God-focused noise makers.

Indeed...let's make some noise! :)

Jill...this is falling right in line with two messages the Lord has given me since Sunday, all wonderful confirmations to walk through the open doors He is placing before me to share His Word. Our Pastor shared a message on Sunday entitled, "Preach the Gospel". He took us to Romans 10:14-15. Our feet were meant to bring good news! Mark 16:20 says, "And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them..." We don't share God's message on our own. God works in and through us. He not only gives us the assignment, but He accompanies us as well.

This morning the Lord led me to Mark 5:19, Jesus said, "Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you." WOW!!! What a commissioning verse. The speaking opportunity that has had me the most anxious was the invitation extended from my "home church". It's a very large event that will happen, Lord willing, in January 2013, and over 100 churches are invited. What a Word from God this morning!

Jill, as the Lord is opening doors of speaking for me, He is reminding me that He has led me through things this past couple of years (and I don't mean physically with my cancer journey...that's another story all together), and taught me lessons, awaking my eyes to sin, teaching me about spiritual discernment and the power of praise, and now I need to search these truth's out and teach them to others. They are not for my selfish keeping, but to encourage others.

I also thought of 2 Chronc 20:19 when I was reading about Joy. It says that the people, "stood up to praise the LORD, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice." I understand your situation at the time and the need for quiet *smile*, but most of the time we need to turn the volume up and say it like we mean it. Praise has so much power! Joy was living up to her name with some happy enthusiasm. She is so precious. I love that she turned around and went back outside. Sometimes our joy (*smile*) just can't be silenced.

Your poem and thoughts here are so precious. Yes, how can we be silent. Let's share Jesus and be obedient to His Word. He has done so much for us.
Hugs, love and blessings as you walk out your "yes" to God,
Joy
