Devotion Week - Day 3

Heart of a Champion Devotional

Day 3: Encourager

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever…” John 14:16

Definition of Encourager: to give support, offer help and hope

Do you appreciate hearing, “You can do it!”? After you make a mistake isn’t it good to hear, “Keep working! You’ll get it next time!”? Encouragement is important in sports, and the same is true in life.

These powerful words help us when times are tough, guide us when we need direction and comfort during a loss. People in our lives can speak them and the Holy Spirit can provide them as well. When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, God gives us His Holy Spirit – also known as our Helper or Encourager.

The Holy Spirit encourages and motivates you in the same way a positive coach does. Sometimes He will whisper to your heart and other times He will speak through God’s Word. It is best to listen and believe all He has to say!

What difference does encouragement make for you?

Are you in need of encouragement? Pray and ask God to provide it.

Father, thank you for the gift of encouragement. Help me share that gift with others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Work-Out – Read Isaiah 41:10. How does it encourage you?
